Lisa's Violin

Violin teacher Lisa Marsnik has 40 years of experience
teaching children
the beauty and art of the violin.

What I Do

I teach children of all ages. Children as young as two years old use the method "Adventures in Violinland." Children love the method's joy and simplicity. It nurtures their initial enthusiasm and transforms it into a deeper love of music and violin playing. Older students participate in local youth orchestras and competitions and some prepare for college music school degree programs.

I divide the year into three segments. The students take private lessons and regularly come together to prepare a group performance for the three recitals per year.

Who I Am

I am a professional concert violinist. I was first violinist of the Horizon and Feldman String Quartets, concertmaster of the Virginia Opera Orchestra, member of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra and the Virginia Symphony, and soloist with several orchestras. I was one of seventy-five international violinists invited to the 1985 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, Belgium. I participated in three of the last master classes taught by Nathan Milstein in Zurich, Switzerland. I was lucky to work with many great violinists and musicians. I blend the old and modern styles. I love the violin and hope to pass on my passion to my students.

My Students

I have been learning from my students for 40 years! Each one is unique and approaches the violin differently. My youngest student was just two and my oldest was 73. I've taught adult amateurs to aspiring professionals, who went on to get Master of Music degrees in violin. I especially love teaching very young children the correct technique from the beginning. It gives them such satisfaction and pride to play well. My students learn to analyze, imagine, and develop poise and confidence.
